Award-winning playwright Theresa Rebeck's The Novelist is the story of a dysfunctional family of artists and their struggle to coexist under the same roof. Paul, the family patriarch, is a Nobel Prize-winning novelist with a severe case of writer's block that's impeding his newest work. When he finds himself sharing space with his elegant, feisty wife, his two adult sons -- one an actor, the other an art dealer -- and one of his son's girlfriends for the first time in years, tensions begin to run high. But it's the arrival of Paul's new assistant, a talented and passionate young writing student, which sets the bitter and funny chaos into motion. The Novelist is coming to the stage at Theatre Three in Dallas.
