Just as Eliza Doolittle won the heart of Professor Henry Higgins in Pygmalion, a romance bloomed between the show's playwright George Bernard Shaw and the famed actress he penned the part for, Mrs. Patrick Campbell. Though they never consummated their relationship, Shaw and Campbell carried on a correspondence that crackled with wit and passion. Dear Liar! is adapted from those letters, and follows the pair's tumultuous confrontations and reconciliations over the course of 40 years.
